Can`t win!

Well, I have enterd this month full of enthusiasm and prepared to crush the NL50 pond already. But meeh ... I decided not to :P

Actually joke aside, month again started like shit and now I am just really down in my psychological and emotional side. I just don`t know how to play and stay motivated, I can`t see any goals being reached anytime soon. I read some good posts from ganeshe`s blog when he had it rough and I think I am kinda in the same spot.

It sucks too work hard on your game, really put as much thinking as I can in poker and than not being able to show good result. Than I start asking myself, how much are other winnig regs confronted with situation of beaing ahead on turn like dunno eg 75% or 85% or 93,5% favourite on turn, to loose on river. Then my thought usually goes, "do these reg players than fold river?" ... "do they push more flop turn".

I swear to good I have the image of hem procentage already burned in my cranium even before I play the hand. That is not good I know.

So the last few days I am mostly watching a few videos from dj sensei and preparing for the statistics exeam which is on firday (oh the irony). That is another reason why I didn`t feel like grinding.

Shorty post but there is not much to say. Next report when I start winning (stop whining)! :P
Till next time guys, take care!

March review

March has been just one of those "bleeeeh" months. Basically not much to report on but that I did run like shit and on the side of that made a couple of really stupid tilt/spew stackoffs that were really not neccessary. I do have a felling I picked up quite alot on the game itself, prolly cuz I started to really put in hours in analysing sessions and some "standard" opponents and lines.

Did start with a new daily schedule I made for myself. I got the felling with all the uni stuff, poker and free time that was left ... well let`s say it just felt really too random and I didn`t have like a daily quota of how much should I really do. So there was some major slacking off from time to time. I hope this schedule makes me more organized and helps me to achieve my goals faster in poker and life in general.

Till next time, take care!

Jose "Girah" Macedo story

I am not great fan of 2+2 and I am not their member, so it is not wierd that I didn`t hear about this kid till recently.

Girah is a 18y old Portugese poker prodigy. His poker story is not insane or genious cuz of the results he achieved in such short time but probably because of the view he has on his own success.
If you are bored, not feeling motivated, or just wanna hear an awesome story here is the link to the interview he had with guys at pokerstatic(also his blog is in my blogroll):

http://www.pokerstatic.com/hot-seat/interview-with-jose-girah-macedo/

What really sticks out of this story is the fact that this kid thinks of himself as a person with zero "poker talent". His opinion is that his success was dependant solely to his hard working ethics and ofc. love towards the game. As he mentions he definitely has been lucky also cuz basically every shot he took at new limits he was running good and along the way he was getting really good at the game! Nevertheless his achievements are mostly to his unbelieveble work ethic and dedication to improvements in the game.

Amazing story, great inspiration, would recommend it to anyone!

Peace till next time,

First winning day after a looooong time

Today is a happy day! Why u ask? Because I managed to brake a cycle of 12 consecutive loosing days! Hooraay for me! 8) It is kinda sad, but I guess u have to find some positive thinking when everything is going down the drain. So I try...

I played Sunday Storm and TurboTakedown also today. I busted in both but won`t complain, cuz I now how these mass mtt`s work usually. Basically to get on a final table you literally have to run like god. And a colleague of mine got on two consecutive final tablse of DNG couple of weeks ago. On first one he made a deal for a 1st place split basically and right next week he took the whole thing down for like 50k. So that was more than 80k in two weeks! Talk about roi!

Something really unusual also happened today! I don`t remember when a reg actually did this the last time vs. me, hehe maybe the games are getting softer.

Here it is:
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed) - PokerStars Hand Converter from HandHistoryConverter.com

Hero (CO) ($50)
Button ($25)
SB ($91.10)
BB ($53)
UTG ($67.15)
UTG+1 ($66.20)
MP1 ($50)
MP2 ($50)
MP3 ($58.95)

Preflop: Hero is CO with K, K

3 folds, MP2 bets $1.50, MP3 calls $1.50, Hero raises to $6, 3 folds, MP2 raises to $14.50, 1 fold, Hero raises to $50 (All-In), MP2 calls $35.50 (All-In)

Flop: ($102.25) 8, A, 4 (2 players, 2 all-in)

Turn: ($102.25) 9 (2 players, 2 all-in)

River: ($102.25) 5 (2 players, 2 all-in)

Total pot: $102.25 | Rake: $3

Results:

MP2 had K, A (one pair, Aces).

Hero had K, K (one pair, Kings).

Outcome: MP2 won $99.25

Now talking about a loose call! ;p Hehe, hoping for more of these, ofc more winning ones!

Till next time, when I will probably do my monthly report, take care guys!

Crazy party aftermath

Yesterday drowe to the capital to attend a traditional student party which is held by our student organization. To cut the long story short just loads and loads of alco! Did visit burger king for the first time ever. O happy days! I know it sounds funny but we only had McDonalds in Slovenia till now, and first BK opened few weeks ago. Nothing special anyway, fast food is fast food, gotta try eat as less of that crap as possible.

So today I slept through most of the day and now I kinda don` t feel like playing so I`m gonna put in a quick blog post. I had my 2nd coaching with new coach pokerarb on Monday. Some of you might know him, for others his blog is on my blogroll, bottom right. He is a crushing NL50 player, now actually NL100 if I am not mistaken. Didn`t have many coaches before but I think he is the best one I had. You can really see how comfortable he is discussing things and going through situations. Basically we went through loosing hands of this month to establish if I am making any significant mistakes and more or less I am more of a spewtard than a bad player it seems. Yaay for me! Otherwise this month will just be the one to forget, I am running a cool 12stacks under EV, and loosing like 450bb pots 4way AI on flop while being 70% favourite. Meeh, still it shouldn`t not matter, cuz I play good and it will pass. Soon I hope!

Last time I talked about clearing things up about what it takes to go pro in my country. So basically the average sallary here is 1300$/month. And this is just "on paper" it is prolly 1k in rl and given the economy as we now it know, it is going to get just worse and unemployment rates will be just skyhigh. And I am not talking about ppl with no school, I am talking about ppl with deegres working for friggin peanuts, or even worse not working at all cuz there are no jobs! Student job is paid from round 4-6$/hour, so you can definitely see why I started taking poker more seriousely and ofc because of <3 towards the game. I have taken up many many different jobs in the past and I can asure you that I know the meaning of words "hard earned money". And that is why I just cannot accept it any more. I will not work for peanuts if one can live of NL100 being a average winning regular.

So the will is here, the passion and dedication also so what is left is just to grind it out and improve along the way!

Till next time guys, take care!

Gregy`s cardhouse - intro

I am a 24 y old student from Slovenia and should have started a blog long long time ago. Now the time has come.

I started playing poker seriousely last april. Before, it was just recreational short stacking with no real wish in game development or "illusion" that I could make some money out of it. Last april I started "serious" poker on NL5 full-ring using big stack strategy. Last September I brought my roll up to the point where I can play NL50 (using 50 buy in rule) and have been basically stuck on NL50 for half year now. I am not ashamed to admit I am still a loosing player on  NL50 (bout 300k hands). My temperament has been a huge problem in the begining and although I had quite a load of work with it I believe I tamed it quite well (no more banging on the table, keyboard, mouse ... just deep breathin and "instaquit" if I feel I am failing to do so). I probably had some subtle leaks in my game but I am fixing them as I go.

I believe that I am a slow learner, but not cuz I lack of inteligence but mainly cuz I need to test thing myself actualy before I can incoorporate them into my practice. After that I tend to bring them to perfection and this too can sometimes hold me back or is "-EV" as put in poker jargon.

These last few days have been hard. Probably everyone is aware there is no room for emotions in poker. Well there is, after you ship the sunday million or win a wsop bracelet, but just AFTER. So all jokes aside, as I will not tend to make this blog a begginers blog I just want to point that I do understand that poker is:

a.) a longterm game
b.) therefore patience is a virtue
c.) game with no place for emotions
d.) game where continious improvement takes u places
e.) "shit" that is not rigged (lol)

Still after all of these commandments being followed to the T, shadows of doubt keep creeping on me last few weeks. I don`t know is it cuz of frustration or what, but I do start getting thoughts like: some are mybe not "gifted with luck" to take the next step. Ofc. my results till NL50, my  bankroll, my paid school tuition, knowlede I have gained over last year are all prooving me wrong!
So yes, this was also a reason I started this blog.

So untill next time guys, when I talk about my current coachings, perspective of how much is enough to go pro in Slovenia and more,

Take care!
